Judo Stakeholders Pass Vote of Confidence in NJF President, Dr. Musa Oshodi

Stakeholders in Nigerian Judo have unanimously passed a vote of confidence in the President of the Nigeria Judo Federation (NJF), Dr. Musa Oshodi, applauding his visionary leadership and the historic bronze medal won by Nigeria at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

The endorsements were contained in separate letters dated August 26, 2026, issued by the Nigeria Judo Coaches Association, the Referees Association and the Athletes’ Representative, with the three bodies expressing their continued support for the administration of Dr. Oshodi.

In its letter signed by its President, Coach Oluwatoyin Emmanuel Ojo, the Coaches Association said Nigerian Judo had “continued to grow and gain prominence both nationally and internationally” under Dr. Oshodi’s leadership.

The association also congratulated the federation on Miss Enku Ekuta’s bronze medal achievement, describing the feat as “a testament to the good work your administration is doing to develop the sport.”

Similarly, the Nigeria Judo Referees Association, led by its Chairman, Mr. Godspower Geoffrey, described the Glasgow bronze medal as a landmark achievement that ended Nigeria’s 24-year wait for a Judo medal at the Commonwealth Games.

According to the referees, the achievement was “a testament to Dr. Oshodi’s strategic reforms, athlete-centred policies, and dedication to repositioning Nigerian Judo on the global stage.”

The association reaffirmed its “unalloyed support” for the NJF president, expressing confidence that his administration would take Nigerian Judo to greater heights.

The athletes also threw their weight behind the federation’s leadership. Speaking on behalf of judokas across the country, Athletes’ Representative Franca Audu pledged their continued loyalty and support for Dr. Oshodi.

“Mr President sir, please be assured that you have the support of the Nigerian Judo athletes now and always. Together, we shall move Judo further forward in Nigeria again from the recent feat attained at the Glasgow Games by the grace of God,” she stated.

The stakeholders said they remained committed to working with the NJF board to position Judo among Nigeria’s leading sports, while calling for sustained investment in athlete development, grassroots programmes, coaching, officiating and other initiatives capable of improving the country’s performance at national and international competitions.

The latest endorsements further underscore the growing support for the NJF administration as it seeks to build on Nigeria’s recent international success and establish a stronger foundation for the future of Judo in the country.
