JUST IN: Court Dismisses AIT/RayPower Prayers Over Indefinite Shutdown

Posted on June 7, 2019

The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has on Friday affirmed that the Africa Independent Television (AIT) and RayPower stations be shut down indefinitely.

The ruling was made by Justice Inyang Ekwo, who rejected two prayers by Daar Communications Plc for restraining orders against the respondents – Nigerian Broadcasting Commission, Federal Ministry of Information and Culture (FMIC), and the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF).

The High Court reportedly granted an order ex-parte for the maintenance of status quo, pending the determination of a motion filed by Daar Communications Plc challenging the suspension of its operating licence by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC).
