Kogi Newmap Community Shield Ends Amid Pomp

The Director General, Kogi State Government House, who is also a political leader in Agassa in Kogi State, Hon. Shaibu Oricha Umar, commends the Nigeria Erosion Watershed and Management Project (NEWMAP) for organizing Newmap Community Shield Tournament in his community.

In his statement, Hon. Oricha described the tournament as exceptional, as this is the first time this kind of tournament is taking place in his community.

The DG Government House hails the State coordinator of Newmap, Barr. Ladi Ahmed Jatto and (NBHH Nigeria Ltd) the co-sponsor of this wonderful occasion as he described the tournament as an avenue to bring the youths together in fostering a diverse unity amongst them.

The community Chairman of Agassa who also doubles as the planning committee chairman of the event, Mall. Hussein Suleiman, hails Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello for turning their community into a small London of development as almost all road in Agassa down to Ahache are now tarred.

He further commended the organizer of this tournament as he said this will go a long way in addressing social vices and restiveness among the youths of his community, as he hope this kind of tournament will now be a continuous thing in his community.

The chairman called on government and private individuals to invest more on the youths of Agassa.

The Kogi State Newmap coordinator, Barr. Ladi Ahmed Jatto whose joy knows no bounds praised Gov. Yahaya Adoza Bello for always giving her his full support especially in the areas of development.

“In the recent time now we all have witnessed the EndSARS protest across the country, covid-19 pandemic and as such the youths need something that can bring them together again in one voice as a united family and we all know the role sports generally plays in unifying the youths” she said.

Barr. Ladi commended all the participants of this tournament and charged them to keep the high spirit alive.

The project manager of NBHH Nigeria Ltd, Engr. Paul Enoch, congratulate the winners of this tournament and all the participants of this great event.

Engr. Paul hails Agassa community for the warmth reception received by his company into their community and pledged its company’s total commitment in giving more to the community.

Engr. Paul who further described sports as a unifying factor said this tournament will go a long way in projecting Agassa to the world.

He also enjoined the youths of the community to take advantage of this tournament to engage more in sports as there are a lots of opportunities in the sporting business.

The DG Government House who represented the governor at the tournament promised the community of the governor’s readiness to sustain this kind of tournament in the community on an annual basis.

The DG Government House, Hon. Shaibu Oricha Umar also charged the participating team to prepare for the upcoming Governor’s cup that will be hosted in the state as he have confidence that the youth of Agassa have all the qualities needed to win the tournament.

Alh. Musa Asugbo, the community leader of Agassa/Ahache, who made the closing remarks, commended Gov. Yahaya Adoza Bello for his developmental stride and pray God bless him always he also prayed for all the people that works for the success of the development of Agassa/Ahache community.
