A women leader of Labour Party in Lagos State, Mrs Esther Olufunlayo Akanbi in the early hours of Monday escaped being assassinated by the whisker when people suspected to be political thugs invaded her residence on Ikorodu Road via Fadeyi bus stop to unleash terror on her.
PM. EXPRESS reports that there has been an on easy calm in the camp of Labour party faithful whose party defied all odds and caught political bookmakers by surprise when the results of the recently held presidential election in Lagos came out. Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi defeated the candidate of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who many saw as the favourite to win the election.
Obi and his Labour Party swept the poll in Lagos State as released by the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC).
This did not, however, go down well with the APC members in Lagos who were doing all they can to suppress the voice of the Labour Party members.
Fifty-four-year-old Mrs Akanbi was said to be instrumental to whatever victory Labour Party got from her local government, Mushin and she has been the target of attack.
The attack eventually came in the early hours of Monday, 27 February 2023 when some people suspected to be political thugs invaded her residence, searched everywhere to see if they could apprehend her, but sensing that she was nowhere to be found, they set the house on fire.
