A 26-year old lady, Oluwatoyin Joshua, has landed in trouble in Lagos State after she engaged her 28-year old lover, Olayinka Adebayo, in a fight and stabbed him to death.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Oluwatoyin, has been arrested for alleged culpable homicide.
The incident happened at Ogunaike Street, Shangisha area of Lagos, where the fight took place.
The Police operatives however, did not state the cause of the fight between Oluwatoyin and late Adebayo, which eventually led to his death.
Police alleged that the duo engaged in a fight and in the process, Oluwatoyin took a kitchen knife and stabbed the deceased. He was said to have bled profusely before he was rushed to an undisclosed hospital, where doctors merely certified him dead.
The corpse was deposited at the mortuary for autopsy report while the matter was initially reported to the Police Isheri Division, who trailed and eventually arrested Oluwatoyin. She was later transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba, for further investigation over the murder.
After investigation, the suspect, Oluwatoyin, was found culpable and subsequently charged before the Ebutte Meta Magistrates Court for the alleged murder.
However, when she was brought to the Court, her plea was not taken following a motion raised by the prosecutor, Supol Kaluka Jibo, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice because it was a capital offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. F. F. George, ordered her remand in custody pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned pending when the DPP’s report will be ready, to determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
