A 30-year old lady, Obioma Nkiruka, has been arrested in Lagos for allegedly tricking and obtaining the sum of N2.4m from one Dele Iloanya, over a shady deal and escaped.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Jegede $treet, Akinogun area of Lagos.
She was arrested and charged before the Court for allegedly obtaining the said money under false pretence.
Her arraignment followed after the complainant, Iloanya, wrote a petition to the Area Commander, Area P Command, against Nkiruka over her alleged criminal conduct.
Hence, she was arrested and detained at the Command for interrogation over the allegations. And after thorough interrogation, the Police found her culpable and asked her to refund the money but she told the Police that she had spent the money.
The Police therefore, charged her before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment if she is found guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Benedict Aigbokhan, told the Court that the alleged offence she committed contravened Section 314and 287 of the Criminal Laws of the State and since she pleaded not guilty, the Court should give a date for hearing to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.K. Ariyo, granted her bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and addresses verified.
The matter was adjourned till 12th May, 2023, while the defendant was remanded in custody at the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when she will perfect his bail conditions.
