Lady, 36, Docked For Burgling Boutique At Night & Carting Away N10m Clothes

A 36-year old  lady, Alonge Oluwafunke, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly arranging with robbers at midnight to burgle her boss’ boutique and cart away N10m worth of clothes. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 14th December, 2024, at the boutique located at College Bus/stop, Ikotun Idimu Road, Ikotun, Lagos, where she was employed as a worker.
According to the Police,  the lady was warned earlier about the kind of visitors she invites into the boutique (shop), knowing fully that by doing so, she could bring in criminals but she did not listen.
On the day the incident happened,  it was gathered that the boutique was burgled at night and the items inside the shop were carted away. When the owner came to the shop,  she discovered that the shop was almost empty.
The matter was reported to the Police at Ikotun Division. The suspect was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over the stolen items.
After rounds of interrogation,  the Police found her culpable and consequently charged her before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.
The charges read:
“That you, Alonge Oluwafunke F’ and others still at large, on 14th December, 2024, at midnight, at College Bus/stop, Ikotun Idimu Road, Ikotun, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire together to commit felony to wit, burglary and stealing and thereby commited an offence to and punishable under Section 411, of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.”
COUNT II: “That you, Alonge Oluwafunke “F’ on same date, period and place, in the aforesaid Magisterial District, did conduct yourself in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace by refusing to abide by the instruction of your boss one Lola Jegunmah ‘F’ to desist from the habit of inviting and bringing unknown visitors into her boutique (shop). Knowing fully that by doing so, will prevent the commission and completion of any crime but you fail to do so and thereby commited an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 168 (d), of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.”
COUNT III: “That you, Alonge Oluwafunke ‘F’ and others still at large, on same date, period and place, in the aforesaid Magisterial District, did unlawfully enter the shop of one Lola Jegunmah “F” with intent to commit felony therein and thereby commited an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 308 (1) (2), of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.”
COUNT IV: “That you, Alonge Oluwafunke ‘F’ and others still at large, on same date, period and place, in the aforesaid Magisterial District, did break and entered the shop of one Lola Jegunmah “F” and thereby commited an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 309 (2) of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.”
COUNT V: “That you, Alonge Oluwafunke ‘F’ and others still at large, on same date, period and place, in the aforesaid Magisterial District, did steal different types of male and female wears valued Ten Million Naira (N10,000,000.00), property of one Lola Jegunmah ‘F’ and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 280 and Punishable under Section 287 (7), of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.”
She pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Benedict Aigbokhan, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Ms K.A. Ariyo, granted her bail in the sum of N1m with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned till 21st January, 2024, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.
