A lady, Amadi Chinyere, got what she did not bargain for in Lagos after she gave N250, 000 to local fraudsters popularly known as money doublers to change into millions of Dollars so that she will become rich.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the victim, Chinyere, gave them her money and she was handed a container stuffed with saw dust in exchange for her money as Dollars.

The incident happened at Oshodi area of Lagos, where Chinyere was accosted by the conmen.

They convinced her that they will double her money into Dollars, showed her a sample and she believed them. She then went and brought the money to them. In exchange, she was given a container, in which they claimed they had packed the money and then told her to go home and start spending the Dollars.

However, when Chinyere got home and opened the container, she discovered that it was stuffed with saw dust and few fake Dollar notes were on top of it.
It was then her eyes opened and she discovered that she has been duped. She then went to the Police operatives at FSARS in Ikeja, Lagos and reported what happened to her.

The Police trailed the gang and arrested two of the suspects, namely Chikodi Ogbonna, 43 and Francis Abednego, 42 and detained them at the Command for interrogation.
According to Police sources, the suspects admitted that they duped her because she was greedy and they had shared her money among the group members and it will be difficult to raise the money in order to refund her.

After interrogation, the Police found the suspects culpable and subsequently charged them before the Ogba Magistrates Court for conspiracy and obtaining under false pretence.
They pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Mr. Ajayi Kehinde, asked the Court to give a date to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the offence.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. A. Ajibade, granted them bail in the sum of N100,000 each with two sureties in like sum.
They were remanded in Correctional Centre pending when they will perfect their bail conditions while the matter was adjourned till 7th October, 2020.
