Lagos Businessman Lands In Prison For Allegedly Stealing N11m Diesel

Operatives of the Nigeria Police Zone 2 Command, Lagos have arrested a businessman, John Ibe Nnadozie and charged him before a Lagos Magistrate’s Court for allegedly obtaining 9,167,000 litres of diesel valued at N11 million from the manager of Obededom Oil and Gas Limited, Ajayi Segun under false pretence.

Police said that the defendant obtained the diesel from the complainant to sell and make profit and remit the proceeds to the complainant, but that the defendant sold the diesel and allegedly converted the N11m proceeds to his personal use and escaped.

Police alleged that following the development, the complainant petitioned the Assistant Inspector General of Police Adegoke Fayoade incharge of Zone 2 Command, Lagos who swiftly directed his men to arrest the defendant.

The defendant was arraigned before the Igbosere Magistrate’s Court sitting at the Tinubu Magistrate’s Court on a three-count bordering on obtaining, stealing and giving false information against the Complainant to the Police.

Police prosecutor, ASP Jimoh Joseph told the Court in the charge marked P/25/2025 that the defendant committed the offence in March, 2024 at 20, Oredayo Street, Agege, Lagos.

Joseph informed the court that the defendant obtained 9,167,000 from the complainant,  Segun, the Manager incharge of Obededom Oil and Gas Limited to sell and make his profit and remit the proceeds into the complainant’s account, but that the defendant sold the diesel and allegedly converted the N11 million to his use.

He said the offences, the defendant committed were punishable under sections 411,314, 287 and 96(a) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges and the presiding Magistrate granted him bail and adjourned the case.
