Lagos FA Cup Cannot Affect LDFA League Says Tinubu

Chairman of Lagos Divisional Football Association LDFA, Akintunde Tinubu has assured the participating teams in the ongoing LDFA league that the forthcoming Lagos State Challenge Cup won’t affect the ongoing divisional League.

On Tuesday the Lagos State Football Association had announced the registration and commencement of the Lagos FA Cup.

The registration for Lagos FA Cup according to the organisers starts today, while the kick off would be slated for February 18, 2023.

Reacting to the guidelines of Lagos FA Cup, Tinubu explained that LDFA League would be completed before the commencement of the Lagos FA Cup but noted that the board would not entertain any match postponement in the ongoing league.

“I have seen the guidelines of Lagos FA Cup and I have urged our participating teams to avoid any postponement of any league match before the state FA Cup so that the two competitions would not be clashed.

“We are not going to entertain any match postponement because we wan to finish as quickly as possible so that our affiliated clubs would be able to participate in the Lagos FA Cup,”he said.

Meanwhile the 2021/22 LDFA League kicked off last week with fourteen clubs.The league is currently playing at Railway Institute football pitch, Yaba, Lagos.
