Lagos Govt Congratulates Cosmos On Opening Of Gelato & Coffee University

The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has congratulated Cosmos Trade Nigeria Limited on the grand opening of Gelato and Coffee University in Lagos.

 

The Governor, represented at the event by the State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, said the remarkable institution represents not just a milestone of Cosmos Trade but also a significant advancement for Nigeria’s culinary and entrepreneurial landscape.

Speaking further, Sanwo-Olu posited that in a world where culinary art is not merely about nourishment but about culture, innovation, and economic empowerment, the establishment of Gelato and Coffee University is a visionary step forward and a testament to the commitment to diversifying the economy, promoting entrepreneurship and nurturing talent.

His words, “Today, Cosmos take their mission a step further by creating an educational platform that will train, inspire, and empower the next generation of culinary artists and entrepreneurs. Cosmos Africa has distinguished itself as a reputable market leader within the industry”.

According to the Governor, the University is more than a place of learning it is also a hub of creativity and innovation where passion meets expertise and traditional methods blended with modern techniques and where local ingredients are celebrated on a global stage.

“The skills and knowledge imparted in the university will not only elevate the standards of Gelato and Coffee making in Nigeria but also create new opportunities for economic growth and employment”, he added.

 

The Managing Director of Cosmos Trade Nigeria and Founder of Gelato and Coffee University, Mr. Tunji Olaniyi, said that although the Company started off selling equipment, the idea of the University came about as a result of the need to train the Company’s clients to do the business properly, to observe all food safety protocols and make the product correctly, stressing that it’s when the clients do well that the Company also can do well.

Olaniyi averred that the University caters for two major categories of students, entrepreneurs who own coffee shops and people who want skills acquisition to build their capacity for employment in the hospitality sector.

 

He expressed his appreciation to the Lagos State Government for honouring the invitation to be part of history, adding that the company will continue to react to the demands of the market and those of the clients.
