Lagos Socialite Ewenla, 7 Others Face Trial Over Alleged Attempted Murder

The trial of Lagos socialite Prince Adedipe Adegesin a.k.a Ewenla, 35 and seven others for allegedly invading the residence of Otunba Kehinde Adeosun with dangerous weapons such as guns, machetes, sticks and broken bottles to attack him commences on 9 May, 2017 at Court 11, Igbosere Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.
Other defendants includes Gbadamosi Michael, 55, Olusola Saheed, 23, Kayode Akotipopo, 27, Kazeem Lawal, 35, Abiodun Adeosun, 47, Wasiu Alarape, 23 and Akinwande Olarenwaju, 24.
All the defendants were arrested by the operatives of the Force Criminal Investigation Department, FCID, Alagbon Close, Ikoyi, Lagos and arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrates’ court on a six count charges bothering on armed robbery, unlawful possession of fire arms, attempt to murder and unlawful damage of a building valued at N20 million.
Police prosecutor, DSP Ubanwa Kenneth Esq, had informed the court in charge No. D/19/2014 that the defendant committed the alleged offence on 3 March, 2014 at No. 103 Agbe Road, Abule Egba, Lagos.
Ubanwa told the court that all the defendants invaded the residence of the complainant, Otunba Adeosun, to attack him with guns, machetes, sticks and broken bottles and caused grievous bodily harm.
He said the defendant also damaged the complainants building valued at N20 million.
Ubanwa said the offenses the defendants committed are punishable under sections 6(b) of the robbery and fire arms special provisions act CAP R11 Vol. 14 LFN, 2004, 1(2)(a)3 of the robbery and fire arms, 409 and 348 of the criminal code of Lagos State of Nigeria.
All the defendants denied the police allegations in the open court and the presiding magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, ordered that all the defendant be remanded in prison custody for DPP’s advice.
Kusanu adjourned the case till May 9, 2017 for definite trial.
