Lagos State Govt Gives Financial Assistance To Parents With Multiple Births

Posted on December 23, 2025

In line with the Social Inclusion Policy of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu in ensuring that everyone in the State benefits from the dividends of good governance, the Ministry of Youth and Social Development has given Five Million Naira to seven families with multiple births.

In his remarks at the ceremony held at Alausa Secretariat today, the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Youth and Social Development, Mr. Mobolaji Abubakre Ogunlende said that the government was giving out the financial assistance to ease the burden of taking care of the children and to make it possible for them to also celebrate the yuletide.

His words, “This gesture is just to let you know that the government of the day has your interest at heart. As a matter of fact, what we are giving to you today cannot suffice in terms of what you have spent and still going to spend for the upkeep of these children. As a government, we see our children as treasures that must be cherished and properly taken care of because they will grow up to become adults who will eventually take over from us”.

“They need a solid foundation for this to be achieved, and this comes at a cost in terms of financial resources and time. It is the quality of our investment in them today that will determine what they will turn out to be tomorrow”, he added.

On her part, the Permanent Secretary, Pharm (Mrs.) Toyin Oke-Osanyintolu, who could not hide her joy at seeing the quadruplets and triplets, admonished the parents to be appreciative to God for being fortunate to be blessed with such a number of children and to endeavour to take proper care of them.

“The Social Inclusion Policy of Mr Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu is for every resident in the State. It does not matter your tribe or religion. As you can see from the beneficiaries of today, the Ministry transparently does this. It is not a one-off thing. We do this every year. You don’t need to know anyone of us before you can get this financial assistance, provided the children are given birth to in Lagos State and their parents are residents in the State. As a Ministry, we have a social responsibility to contribute to the proper care of our children. That is the reason behind the creation of the Child Development Department,” Pharm (Mrs) Oke-Osanyintolu stated.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr Uwaoma Teddy Odili appreciated the Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development for the kind gesture of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and for making it accessible to every resident of the State.

Mr. Odili also lauded the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital for the professionalism demonstrated by its medical personnel, which made it possible for his quadruplets to be delivered safely and soundly.
