Lagos Teakwondo Association Organises IBILE Poomase Competition
To compliment the Lagos State Sports Commission’s Sports is Back programme, the Lagos State Teakwondo Association during the weekend organized a teakwondo competition tagged “IBILE Poomase.
No fewer than 86 participants from 10 clubs in Lagos participated in the one day competition with the objectives are to further develop the game of teakwondo at the grassroots, discovery of new talents and testing the preparedness of Lagos taekwondo team ahead of Edo 2020 National Sports Festival coming up early December.
Prizes in form of gift items and medals were given only to first place performance in different categories, while certificates of participation were given to all participants.
According to secretary of Lagos State Teakwondo Association, Gladys Akagbosu, new talents were discovered at the competition and those discovered athletes are to be nurtured by the coaching crew of the association.
It would be recalled that the Lagos State Sports Commission after the lifting of ban on sporting activities by the Federal Government’s Task Force on COVID-19 organised sports competition for non contact sports and had also commenced series of training activities in all the sporting facilities under its care to make sure that sporting events fully returned back in Lagos State.
