Posted on November 3, 2025

In a bid to ensure enhanced transparency and accountability in infrastructure improvements, the Lagos State Government will launch the Telecommunication Infrastructure Regulatory System (TIRS) in 2026.

This was convened in a statement issued at the weekend and signed by the General Manager of Lagos State Infrastructure Maintenance Regulatory Agency (LASIMRA), Prince Oyekanmi Elegushi, noting that the system would help to ensure all telecommunication infrastructure deployments in the State adhere to established regulations and standards.

Elegushi said the TIRS launch will take place in February 2026 which is designed to streamline the permit application process for telecom infrastructure projection within Lagos State.

The LASIMRA General Manager said the initiative represents a significant milestone in optimizing permit processes and enhancing regulatory compliance within the State.

According to the statement, “The implementation of the Telecommunication Infrastructure Regulatory System (TIRS) is expected to significantly enhance transparency and accountability, minimizing human interaction by 99 percent.

“To this effect, companies are expected to apply for infrastructure permits like masts, towers, and right-of-way for fiber optic cables online, reducing the need for physical visits.”

The LASIMRA boss stated that a comprehensive training program has been conducted for all departments and units within the Agency, providing officers with an in-depth understanding of the theoretical and practical aspects of the TIRS.

He reaffirmed the Agency commitment to fostering a thriving and sustainable business environment for all operators and stakeholders and assured that the launch of TIRS will further reinforce this objective.
