LASUBEB Chairman Calls On Philanthropists To Support Education Sector

Posted on November 7, 2019

The Executive Chairman of the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB), Hon. Wahab Alawiye-King, has commended Rev. Esther Ajayi, a philanthropist and devout Christian for her humanitarian gestures, just as he called on other philanthropists to support efforts of the State government, through SUBEB, in achieving its vision in the education sector.

Alawiye-King spoke during the courtesy visit of Revd. Mother Esther Ajayi to the Board to felicitate with one of the newly appointed Board Members, Mr. Dayo Israel, as well as to explore ways of complementing the efforts of the present administration and SUBEB to improve basic education in Lagos.

During his address at the event, Mr. Israel thanked the Iya Adura for her continuous prayers and support, saying “I am very grateful that Mama out of her busy schedule found time to come celebrate with me, and also to use the opportunity to identify schools she can adopt and renovate or rebuild. She is a Mother Theresa in this generation and history will be kind to her”.

Earlier, Mrs. Ajayi expressed her appreciation to all staff of SUBEB, especially the Board members for the warm welcome, reiterating that the visit was to congratulate Mr. Israel for the well-deserved appointment as well as indicate her readiness to support the Board, through her foundation, in achieving its set goals and objectives.

“Government must not be left alone with the job of providing social welfare to the poor and less privileged. As citizens, especially privileged citizens, we must go beyond paying our taxes to support people in communities around us and everywhere God leads us”, Rev. Ajayi stated.

She also used the opportunity to inspect some public schools including St. Agnes Primary School Kosofe, St. Francis Primary School Kosofe, Maryland Primary School Kosofe, St. Peters Primary School Oyingbo, Mt. Carmel Primary School Oyingbo, Catholic Primary School Oyingbo, and Apostolic Primary School in Ebute-Metta in order to determine the type of intervention required.
