A 36-year old suspected local, Aliyu Yakubu, has been arrested by the Police in Adamawa State for allegedly killing a victim, Bassey Isah, and having his corpse buried inside the bush after collecting his properties.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that some of the items he collected at various times include three bags of maize, a Toyota Starlet car, a motorcycle, Carry-Go tricycle and others.

He was arrested and he has equally confessed to the Police during interrogation that he actually killed Bassey Isah after he collected his properties through a scam.

On how he tricked the deceased, Aliyu told the Police that he promised Bassey that he will print Naira notes and make him rich overnight. He succeeded in collecting valuable items from Bassey in the process but did not make him rich as he had promised.

This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje, who confirmed the arrest and confessional statement of the suspect now in custody.

The Adamawa State Police Command stated that on 13th June, 2024, the Police arrested Aliyu Yakubu, a resident of Jalingo Daddawa village in Uba, Hong LGA, for killing Bassey Isah.

The Police spokesman, Suleiman Nguroje, explained that after dishonestly obtaining these items from the victim, Aliyu deceived Bassey into accompanying him to a forest, where he struck him with an iron rod and buried his corpse there.

“The suspect confessed to the allegations and will be charged for culpable homicide at the conclusion of the investigations,” the Police stated.

The suspect may likely be charged for murder under the Criminal Laws of the State but that will be after the conclusion of investigations by the Police.
