The decision of the Labour Party (LP) and All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State to boycott the Local Government election scheduled for September 28, 2024 is widely believed to be driven by their fear of defeat in the upcoming election. This move has raised concerns about what they have to offer to Ndi Anambra and has also highlighted the dented and battered images of the two opposition parties.

It is clear that the opposition LP and APC in Anambra State has nothing to offer to Ndi Anambra and has foreseen its impending defeat in the upcoming local government poll. In its usual characteristics, it has resorted to blackmailing ANSIEC, which has adequately informed political parties and stakeholders in the state about their preparedness for upcoming election activity schedules.

The reality is that LP and APC cannot win any post in the forthcoming Local Government election, even if APGA members do not actively campaign. Instead of these two political parties embarking on rigorous image redeeming and grassroots identification, they are dishing out unfounded allegations. It is questionable why these two parties, who were initially clamouring for the LG elections, are suddenly backing out.
