A 20-year old man, Sheriff Hassan has been arrested in Lagos State for allegedly burgling Mountain of Fire & Miracle Ministry a.k.a MFM and carting away four microphones after discovering that the offering box in the church was empty.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Shittu Thompson Street, Rogo area of Iju Ishaga, Lagos, where the church is located.
The suspect was said to have gone to the church in order to steal money from the offering box. But when he broke into the church, he did not see any money inside the offering box and in anger, he stole four microphones including wires connecting them and escaped.
However, when the church officials went to the church for service, they discovered that all the microphones were missing and the church was as well burgled.
The matter was reported to the Police in the area and they informed the Police that microphones and wires worth about one million Naira was stolen.
The Police moved into action and the suspect, Hassan, was arrested and detained for interrogation over the alleged missing items in the church.
After thorough interrogation, the Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for stealing.
However,  he pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned.
The prosecutor, Inspector Adeitan Oluwabunmi, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M.A. Agbaje, granted him bail and ordered his remand in custody at the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions while the matter was adjourned for mention.
