A 20-year old man, Kazeem Aderomu, may spend several years in prison custody after he was allegedly caught inserting his finger into the private part of a 6-year old girl in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Ojediran Street, Ipakodu area of Ikorodu, Lagos, where they reside.
The Police alleged that the suspect, Aderomu, lured the little girl into his apartment, removed her pants and inserted his finger into her private part in order to satisfy his sexual desire.
However, after the dastardly act, the girl went home and informed her parents that Aderomu molested her by inserting his finger in her private part.
The matter was reported to the Police in the area and he was arrested. He was later transferred to the Gender Section of the Command for interrogation over the conduct.
While being interrogated, the suspect denied defiling the girl claiming that he only checked her private part and did not penetrate her.
The Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence because the victim is still a minor and would not have consented to such act.
When he was arraigned, the Court did not take his plea following a motion moved by the Prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice since the victim is still a minor.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi, ordered his remand in custody at the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when the DPP’s report will be ready and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned till 5th December, 2022, for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
