Man, 20, Arrested For Recruiting Self Into Nigerian Military

Police intelligence operatives from the Shasha Division of the Lagos State Command have arrested a 20-year old man, Solomon Igho, who allegedly recruited himself into the Nigerian Military and paraded himself so on the road before he was caught.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Igho, was arrested at Egbeda area of Lagos with Military camouflage as he presented himself as a personnel of the Nigerian Air Force.
On further interrogation, the Police discovered that he was fake, subsequently arrested and detained him at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
During interrogation, the suspect, Igho, admitted that he was not a Military officer but he acquired the Military camouflage and claimed to be one, thereby recruiting himself into the profession.
The Police found him culpable over his conduct and subsequently charged him before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for impersonation under the Criminal Laws of State.
The charge read: “That you, Solomon Igho ‘m’ on the 21st day of October, 2024, at about 5:00pm at Egbeda in the Lagos Magisterial District, did put on Military camouflage and presented yourself as a personnel of The Nigerian Air Force and thereby committed an offence contrary and punishable under Section 77 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
However, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Simeon Njue, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, K.A. Ariyo, granted him bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
