A 20-year old man,  Solomon Igboh, has been arrested for allegedly recruiting himself into the Nigeria Military and resuming duty at the Military Base at Shasha before he was apprehended and handed over to the Police in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 24th July, 2024, at the Air Force base in Shasha, where he claimed to be an officer.
However, he ran out of luck after the Military Intelligence observed, interrogated him and discovered that he was not a Military officer. He was detained at the Base for further investigation over his alleged conduct.
During the interrogation, he reportedly confessed that he was not actually recruited as a Military officer. He stated that he made the uniform himself and started operating as an officer.
The Military authority handed him over to the Police at Shasha Division. He was consequently charged before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.
He pleaded guilty when he was arraigned.
The prosecutor, Inspector Simeon Njue, then asked the Court to give a date for facts and sentence since he pleaded guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence and for the Court to sentence him accordingly to serve as deterrent to others who might want to commit such in the future.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A. K. Dosumu-Uthman, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, pending when he will be sentenced accordingly having pleaded  guilty before the Court.
The matter was adjourned till 12th August, 2024, for facts and sentence.
