Man, 21, Docked For Keeping Girl,15, For 5 Days Without Parents Consent

A 21-year old man, Victor Aniefiok, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly keeping a 15-year old girl inside his house for five days without the consent of her parents. 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect,  Aniefiok, has been arrested and charged for the alleged abduction under the Criminal Laws of the State.

The incident happened at Baruwa area of Ipaja, Lagos, where the suspect resides.

However, the Police did not state the manner in which the girl left her parents and moved to the suspect’s house neither was it disclosed if the suspect defiled her or not while she was in his custody.

According to the Police, the suspect took custody of the girl without her parent’s permission as they declared her missing and reported to the Police at Ipaja Division.

After some days however, it was discovered that the girl was at the suspect’s home and the Police were contacted. The girl was rescued while the suspect was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct.

After rounds of interrogation,  the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.

The charge read:

“That you Victor Aniefiok ‘M’ on the 9th day of February, 2025 at about 2030hrs, at Baruwa, Ipaja, Lagos in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did unlawfully take one 15-year old girl out of the custody of the mother and also against the will of the mother and kept her in your house for five days without her consent and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 144(1) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

However, he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Inspector Lucky Ihiehie, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. T.A. Tanimola, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
