Man, 23, Docked For Smashing Bank’s Property Over New Naira Notes

A 23-year-old man, Ezekiel Olamilekan, has landed in trouble in Lagos State after he went to a UBA branch to withdraw money, was unable to do so and he then smashed the full front glass of the bank.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Olamilekan, has been arrested for malicious damage.
The incident happened at the UBA branch in Mulero area of Dopemu, Lagos State, where Olamilekan with others still at large were said to have gone to damage the property.
After his arrest, thorough interrogation and being found culpable, he was charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court on a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and malicious damage, which attracts several years of imprisonment if he is found guilty by the Court.
However, he pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned.
The Police prosecutor, Inspector Olusegun Kokoye, told the Court that the defendant along with others at large, maliciously damaged the full front glass of UBA, Mulero branch.
Kokoye stated that the value of the said property was yet to be ascertained and the offence the defendant allegedly committed was punishable under Sections 411 and 350 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2015.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Sakirat Obasa, granted the defendant bail to the tune of N100,000 and two reliable sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood.
The matter was adjourned till 20th March, 2023, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the Correctional Center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions .
