Man, 24, Arrested For Stealing N7.8m Worth Of Expensive Phones At Computer Village

A 24-year old man, Obinna Ebuka, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly stealing expensive mobile phones including iPhones worth over N7.8m at a store in Ikeja. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Pepple Street, Computer Village, Ikeja.
According to the Police,  the suspect was alleged to have stolen the items but did not state if he burgled the shop or not before he carted away the items.
However, he was caught and handed over to the Police at Ikeja Division who detained him at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
After interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for conspiracy and stealing under the Criminal Laws of the State.
The charges read:
COUNT I: That you, Obinna Ebuka ‘m’ and others now at large, on the 21st day of July 2024, at about 2000hrs, at No. 5. Pepple Street, Computer Village, Ikeja Lagos, in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did conspire with others now at large to commit felony to wit stealing and thereby committed an offence contrary and punishable under Section 411 of Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.”
COUNT II: That you, Obinna Ebuka ‘m’ and others now at large, on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did steal six pieces of mobile phones comprising of iPhone 14 promax ‘E’ sim, one iPhone 13 Pro and one Open Box Samsung Z Fold 5, all valued at N7,800,000.00 (seven million eight hundred thousand Naira only) properties of one Ifeoluwa Precious ‘m’ and thereby committed an offence Contrary to Section 280 and punishable under Section 287 of Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.”
However, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Evelyn, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. M.A. Adegbaye, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
