Man, 24, Lands In Trouble For Allegedly Inserting Finger Into Private Part Of Girl, 9

A 24-year old man, Monday Edwin, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly touching breasts and inserting his finger into the private part of a 9-year old girl and was exposed by the victim. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect,  Edwin, has been arrested and charged for the alleged sexual assault under the Criminal Law of the State..
The incident happened on 21st of April, 2026, at 24, Samson Dauda Street, Governor’s Road, Ikotun-Lagos, where they reside.
According to the Police, the suspect lured the victim to his apartment, fondled her breasts and inserted his finger into her private part in order to satisfy his sexual desires.
However, the act was exposed after the victim revealed what happened to her parents and the matter was reported to the Police at Ikotun Division. The Police operatives moved into action, eventually arrested the suspect and detained him at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct against the victim.
After thorough interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charge read:
“That you, Monday Edwin ‘m’ On 21st of April, 2026, at about 1530hrs, at 24, Samson Dauda Street, Governor’s Road, Ikotun-Lagos, In the Lagos Magisterial District, did sexually assault the victim ‘f’ 9 years by touching her breasts and also putting your finger inside her private part and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 263, of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.”
The Court did not take his plea after the prosecutor, Inspector Lucky Ihiehie, asked the Court to refer the matter to the to the DPP for legal advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M.O. Tanimola, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for advice.
The matter was adjourned for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
