A 24-year old man, Ademola Damilare, has landed in trouble for allegedly luring and engaging his neighbour’s 12-year old girl in sex in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened 5th November, 2024, at Awolowo Way, Ikeja area of Lagos.
The alleged rape was exposed after the act and the victim’s parents reported to the Police at MAN Center Division. The operatives moved into action, eventually arrested and detained the suspect at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
During interrogation, the suspect denied raping her saying he had sex with her consent, which the girl denied. She alleged that the suspect lured and forcefully engaged her in sex.
The Police found him culpable for the alleged offence and consequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment or life imprisonment.

“That you, Ademola Damilare, at the 1900hrs at Awolowo Way Ikeja, in the Ikeja Magisterial district, did forcefully have sexual intercourse with the victim ‘f 12 years old and thereby committed an offence contrary to punishable under Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State.”
However, the Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Inspector John Iberedem, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kubenije, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for legal advice.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody pending when the DPP’s report will be ready, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
