Man, 25, Docked For Attempting To Use Axe To Behead Rival During Squabble

A 25-year old man, Anslem Onuora, has been arrested and charged in Lagos for allegedly attempting to behead his rival, Saviour Solomon, by using an axe to inflict deep cut on his neck.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Oluwakemi Street, Shasha area of Lagos, where they reside.
Meanwhile, the victim, Saviour Solomon, is lying critically ill at an undisclosed hospital, where he is being treated due to the deep cut injury he sustained during the attack.

According to Police sources, the suspect, Onuora, had a disagreement with the victim over an undisclosed matter, which led to exchange of words and threats.
During the squabble, the suspect, Onuora, went inside his house, brought out an axe, went behind and used it to cut Solomon’s head from the neck.
The victim, Solomon, was said to have bled profusely and was rushed to the hospital while the matter was reported to the Police at Shasha Division.
The suspect, Solomon, was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over his conduct.
After rounds of interrogation, the Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence under Section 245 of the Criminal Law of the State, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
He pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned.
The prosecutor, Inspector Simeon Njue, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.K. Dosumu, granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment.
The matter was adjourned till 8th August, 2023, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
