Man, 27, Docked For Stealing N8 4m Goods At Globus Supermarket

A 27-year old staff of Globus Supermarket, Ijuo Victor Ohehime, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly stealing the company’s goods worth over N8.4m with forged invoices. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident on 27th January, 2026 at about 1745hrs at Globus Supermarket branch at Oludegun Street, Ire Akari Estate, Okota, Isolo, Lagos where he was employed as a staff.

 

According to the Police, the suspect and others now at large conspired and forged invoices to divert and convert the sum of N8,414,000.00.

 

However, the information leaked after the company embarked on routine internal audit and discovered that about N10m worth of  goods were missing. But the suspect admitted according to the Police that it was about N8m worth of goods that he stole.

 

The matter was reported to the Commissioner of Police at the State Command, Ikeja and the suspect was arrested and detained for interrogation over the missing items.

 

After thorough interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.

 

The charges read:

COUNT I: “That you, IJUO VICTOR OHEHIME ‘M’ and others at large on 27th January, 2026 at about 1745hrs at Globus Supermarket Limited. No.1. Oludegun Street, Ire Akari Estate, Okota, Isolo, Lagos in the Lagos magisterial district, did conspire among yourselves to commit felony to wit: stealing and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 411 of criminal law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

 

COUNT II:”That you, IJUO VICTOR OHEHIME ‘M’ and others at large on the same date, time and place in aforesaid magisterial district, did dishonestly steal the sum of (N10,000,000.00) Ten Million Naira, but confessed to the sum of (N8,414,000.00) Eight Million, Four Hundred and Fourteen Thousand Naira Only, property of Globus Supermarket and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 280 (1) (a) (b) and punishable under Section 287 of criminal law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

 

COUNT III:”That you, IJUO VICTOR OHEHIME ‘M’ of the same date, time and place in aforesaid magisterial district, did forge invoices to divert and convert the sum of (N8,414,000.00) Eight Million, Four Hundred and Fourteen Thousand Naira Only, property of Globus Supermarket Limited and hereby committed an offence contrary to Section 365, (1) (a) (b) and punishable under Section 287 of criminal law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

 

However, he pleaded not guilty.

 

The prosecutor, Supol Josephine Ihkayere, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.A. Owolabi, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

 

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
