Man, 27, In Police Net For Allegedly Stealing Neighbour’s Dogs

A man, Oforeke Emmanuel, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly stealing his neighbour’s dogs under false pretence and selling them.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Ikotun area of Lagos, where Emmanuel resides with the owner of dogs, Akinwunmi Seye.
The Police alleged that the suspect contacted the owner of the dogs, Seye, who one of his dogs was delivered of six Buabu puppies and introduced himself as a professional veterinary doctor, who can take care of his dogs.
The complainant believed him butt he took the dogs, sold them and then escaped without informing the owner. Having searched for him to no avail, Seye reported the matter to the Police at Ikotun Division. The Police moved into action, eventually arrested Emmanuel and detained him at the station for interrogation over his conduct.
During interrogation, the suspect told the Police that he actually collected the dogs from the complainant but he had sold them and had no money to refund the owner.
The Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for conspiracy and stealing, which attracts several years of imprisonment if he is found guilty.
He pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned.
The prosecutor, Supol Benedict Aigbokhan, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.K. Ariyo, granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and addresses verified.
He was remanded in custody at the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions while the matter was adjourned till 15th May, 2023, for mention.
