Man, 27, Remanded For Burgling Store & Carting Away N5m Property

A 27-year old man, Napoleon Imasuen, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly burgling a store and carting away property worth N5m belonging to one Remi Tijani. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 29th November, 2024, at Olatunde Oladokun Street, Shibiri, Ojo area of Lagos State.

 

According to the Police, the suspect burgled the store, carted away the property and escaped before the owner later discovered what happened.

 

The matter was reported to the Police at Ilembe Hausa Division. The Police moved into action, eventually arrested and detained the suspect at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct.

 

After rounds of interrogation, the Police found him culpable and consequently charged him before the Ojo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.

 

The charges read:

“That You, Napoleon Imasuen (m) On 29th of November, 2024 at about 1200hrs, at Olatunde Oladokun Street, Shibiri, Ojo, Lagos State, In the Ojo Magisterial district, did burgle into the property of one Remi Tijani represented by one Saheed Olajide and property of Nwatu of Lagos State.”

 

Count II: “That you, Napoleon Imasuen (m) On the above mentioned date, time and place, in the aforementioned magisterial district (m) maliciously damaged property belonging to one Remi Tijani represented by one Saheed Olajide ‘M’ and thereby commit an offence punishable under Section 355 of the criminal law of Lagos State 2015.”

 

Count III:”That you, Napoleon Imasuen (m) On the above mentioned date, time and place, in the aforementioned magisterial district, did steal wires, electrical junction boxes, 2 pumping machine and house properties kept in the store all valued the sum of (N5,000,000.00) only 5million the property of one Remi Tijani and store electrical wires valued the sum (N200,000.00) only Two Hundred Thousand Naira the property of one Nwatu Ikechukwu and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 287 of the criminal law of Lagos State.”

 

He pleaded not guilty.

 

The prosecutor, Simeon Uche, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.K.J Layeni, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

 

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
