Man, 27, Who Pretended To Be Lodger Arrested For Stealing Ladies N1.2m Phones Inside Hotel

A 27-year old man, Uneze Samuel, who pretended to be a lodger, stole two ladies phones worth N1.2m in a popular Lagos hotel and attempted to escape.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Samuel, was arrested at Las Vegas Hotel located at Ipaja area of Lagos, after he allegedly stole two iPhone worth the said amount belonging to the staff of the hotel, Miracle Igwu and Amina Gbadeyinka.
When he tried to escape with the items, he was accosted by the security guards on duty and asked to know who gave him the phones. But he was unable to satisfactory response before the owners later discovered that it was their phones he stole.
He was handed over to the Police at Ipaja Division, who detained him at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
During interrogation, he admitted to have stolen the phones and that he went to the hotel to steal and not to lodge because he had no money to do so.
The Police found him culpable and consequently charged him before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for stealing.
He pleaded guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Simeon Njue, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing to enable him to present the facts of the matter so that the Court will sentence him accordingly.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.K. Dosumu-Uthman, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when the prosecutor will present the facts of the matter to enable the Court to sentence him accordingly.
The matter was adjourned till 3rd July, 2024, for facts and sentence.
