Man, 28, Docked For Stealing N20m Unregistered Vehicle

A 28-year old man, Aliu Bukar, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly stealing N20m worth of unregistered vehicle belonging to Bayewu Olawale at a car lot in Magodo area of the State. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 16th May, 2025, at CMD Road, Magodo Phase 2, Isheri, Lagos.
According to the Police, the suspect and others at large stole an unregistered Hyundai Santa FE 2013 model valued N20,000,000.00 at a car lot at CMD Road, Magodo Phase 2 Lagos, belonging to the complainant.
The matter was reported to the Police at Isheri Division. The Police operatives moved into action, eventually arrested the suspect and detained him at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
After rounds of interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charges read:
Count 1: “That you, Aliu Bukar “M’ and two others still at large on the 16th day of May, 2025, at about 20:00 hours at CMD Road, Isheri Lagos State, in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did conspire among yourselves to commit felony to wit stealing and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 411 of the criminal law of Lagos State 2015.”
Count II:”That you, Aliu Bukar ‘M’ and two others still at large on that same date, time, and place in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did steal one Hyundai Santa FE 2013 model valued N20,000,000.00 Million naira (Twenty Million Naira Only) with Chassis No: VIN SXYZW31ADG001878, colour red, engine number unknown, unregistered at car lot at CMD Road, Magodo Phase 2, Lagos property of one Bayewu Olawale ‘M’, and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 287 of criminal law of Lagos State 2015.”
However, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
