A 29-year old man, Hassan Toheeb, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly engaging an 11-year old girl in sex romp inside a phone market plaza.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Toheeb, has been arrested and charged for unlawfully having sexual intercourse with the victim.
The incident happened at Phone Technology Plaza, Orile Iganmu area of Lagos.
According to the Police, the suspect had on several occasions between 2022 and June, 2025, engaged the victim in the act until they were caught and the victim revealed that he started it in 2022 when she was much younger.
Thus, the matter was reported to the Police at SCID, Yaba. The operatives acted promptly, arrested the suspect and detained for interrogation over his alleged conduct against the victim.
The Police found him culpable after thorough interrogation and charged him before the Yaba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charge read:
“That you, HASSAN TOHEEB “M” and between 2022 and June 2025 at No. 1, Baale Street, Phone Technology Plaza, Orile Iganmu Area of Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did have unlawful sexual intercourse with the victim, aged 11 years without her consent and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.”
However, the Court did not take his plea following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Supol Idowu Osungbure, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.O. Alaka, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center pending when the DPP’s report will be released and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for legal advice.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in the correctional center pending the outcome of DPP’s advice, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
