Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, today led a high-powered delegation of former state officials, stakeholders, and citizens to a Thanksgiving Service at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Awka.

The mass, served as a spiritual milestone to signal the transition from a productive first term toward the commencement of a second tenure.

Addressing the congregation in an atmosphere of gratitude, Governor Soludo attributed the achievements of his administration to divine timing and guidance. He noted that the progress witnessed across the state was not merely a product of human effort but a fulfillment of a divine mandate.

“Today, we’re here to thank God for a successful take-off,” the Governor stated. “Anambra is in the hands of God. He has ordained the state as His. God is never late; this is the right time for us to serve.”

Reflecting on the journey since his inauguration four years ago, Governor Soludo emphasized that his team acted as “instruments” to execute a vision of transformation. He reiterated his core mission: to leave Anambra State significantly better than he met it.

The Governor highlighted that the past four years have seen Anambra on a steady rise across various sectors—from infrastructure and security to human capital development. Despite global and local economic pressures, he noted that the state has been “blessed beyond imagination.”

As he gears up for the next four years, Governor Soludo sought continued prayers for wisdom and courage. He expressed unwavering faith that the same power that sustained his first term would carry the state to even greater heights.

“We commit the rest of the four years to Him, God Almighty ” Soludo declared. “The same God that resurrected Lazarus is still alive.”

The Governor concluded by extending his gratitude to a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including Mr President, the Presidency, the International Community, Private Sector leaders, and Captains of Industry, for their partnership in the “Anambra Project.” He described the opportunity to serve as a rare privilege and an honor to give back to society.

Speaking during the liturgical proceedings, the Papal Nuncio to Nigeria, Archbishop Michael Francis Crotty noted the profound significance of the gathering, which coincided with the Feast of St. Patrick, the patron saint of the Diocese. The atmosphere was one of solemnity and celebration as the Nuncio delivered a message centered on spiritual renewal and communal growth.

Turning his attention to the state of the region, Archbishop Crotty took a moment to offer high praise for the current administration’s performance. He specifically highlighted the visible developments achieved during the Governor’s first term in office, describing the tangible improvements in infrastructure and public services as a testament to dedicated leadership.

The ceremony concluded with prayers for continued peace and the sustained advancement of the state’s ambitious social programs.

The event at the Cathedral drew a diverse crowd of religious leaders, former government officials, and the church faithful
