A 29-year old man, Owolabi Folorunso Adewale, was on Monday 4th March, 2019, arrested by men of the Ogun State Police Command for culpable homicide by allegedly using machete to kill his 99-year old aunt over witchcraft.

The suspect claimed that the victim was using negative spiritual powers against him which had hindered his progress.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that this was disclosed by the Ogun State Police PPRO, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police.
His arrest followed a distress call received by the DPO Ago-Iwoye Division, CSP Ade Adedoyin, that a middle aged man had butchered his aunt, Ebunola Aroboto, to death at Maraisa Lane Igan Road Ago-Iwoye.
On receiving the distress call, the DPO quickly led his detectives to the scene where the suspect was promptly arrested and the machete which he used to wreck the havoc was also recovered.
On interrogation, the suspect admitted killing the old woman with machete claiming that he had a conviction that the woman was responsible for most of his problems.
He stated further he was a regular player of Baba Ijebu lotto and that whenever he was sure of wining, the deceased who was his father’s elder sister will use her supernatural powers to change the winning numbers.
The body of the deceased has been deposited at Ijebu-Ode General Hospital mortuary for post mortem examination.
Meanwhile, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu, has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police State Criminal investigation and intelligence Department, DCP Wale Abass, to take over the case and see to the diligent prosecution of the matter.
