Man, 30, Arraigned For Defiling Neighbour’s Daughter, 9

The Divisional Police Officer of Ikotun Division, CSP Waheed Adebisi, has ordered for the arrest and prosecution of a 30-year old man, Amidu Monsuru, for allegedly defiling his neighbour’s 9-year old daughter by penetration in Lagos State .
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect,  Monsuru, has been arrested and charged before Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged defilement under the Criminal Law of the State.
The incident happened on 28th September, 2025, at Rasaq Tijani Street, off Governor’s Road, Ikotun area of Lagos State, where they reside.
According to the Police, the defendant lured the victim to his apartment, engaged her in sex romp and in the process injured her private part.
The victim later informed her parents and the matter was reported to the Police. The Police moved into action, arrested and detained him at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
After interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Court on the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charges read:
“That you, Amidu Monsuru ‘m’ On the 28th day of September 2025 between 1730hrs and 1930hrs at Rasaq Tijani Street, off Governor’s Road, Ikotun Lagos State, in the Lagos Magisterial istrict, did sexually harrass one 9-year old girl by being on top of her in your room, and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 264. of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.”
The Court did not take his plea following a motion moved by the Prosecutor, Mr Lucky Ihiehie, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M.O.Tanimola, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when the DPP’s report will be ready and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for advice.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded pending the outcome of the DPP legal advice, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction
