A 30-year old man, Festus David, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly engaging a 9-year old girl in sex and she exposed him.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect,  David, has been arrested and charged for the alleged rape.
The incident happened on 2nd March, 2026, at Jamiu Lawal Street, Idowu Egba, Ipaja, Lagos.
According to the Police, the suspect lured the victim to his apartment and engaged her in the act. And having satisfied himself, he allowed her to go but warned her not to tell anyone about it.
However, the victim revealed what happened to her parents and the matter was reported to the Police at Ipaja Division. The suspect was then arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
After thorough interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charge read:
“That you, Festus David ‘M’ on the 2nd of March, 2026, at No. 62, Jamiu Lawal Street, Idowu Egba, Ipaja, Lagos in the Lagos Magisterial District, did unlawfully have sexual intercourse one girl, ‘F’ age 9 years old, without her consent and therefore, committed an offence contrary to and punishable under the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.
The Court did not take his plea after the prosecutor, Mr. Lucky Ihiehie, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice because of the seriousness of the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M.O.Tanimola, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for legal advice.
The matter was adjourned for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
