A 30-year old commercial motorcycle operator, Michael Olorunfemi, has been arrested and charged for allegedly engaging his wife’s 17-year old younger sister in sex romp inside the bush in Ondo State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Olorunfemi, has been charged before the Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Akure town for the alleged offence under the Criminal law of the State and remanded at Olokuta correctional centre over his alleged conduct.
The  prosecutor, Inspector Taiwo Oniyere, told the Court that the defendant committed the offence in August 2024, at 10 pm, in the Onigaari area of Irese Road, Akure of the State State.
The prosecutor stated that the father of four, who is married to the sister of the victim, admitted to have had unlawful carnal knowledge of her in his statement to the Police after he was arrested and detained for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
He confessed in his statement to the Police, which was read in court, that he committed the crime, and said, “I had sexual intercourse with the victim in inside the bush”.
“The victim approached me to take her to her boyfriend’s house, and on our way, I stopped near a bush and raped her. I promised to give her money, which I did not. She then reported me to her mother, which led to my arrest.”
The prosecutor stated that the alleged
offence contravened Sections 357 and 358 of the Criminal Code Law of Ondo State, 2006.
However, the prosecutor prayed the Court to remand the defendant at the correctional centre pending advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The Presiding Chief Magistrate, Kolawole Aro, however, ordered that Olorunfemi should be remanded in custody pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
The Court also directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP while the matter was adjourned till 31st October, 2024, for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be ready.
