Man, 32, Docked For Attacking 2 LASTMA Officers With Faeces & Attempting To Set Them Ablaze

A 32-year old man, Taiwo Bolarinwa, has been arrested in Lagos State for allegedly attacking two LASTMA officers with faeces and attempting to burn them with petroleum substance before they were rescued.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 13th June, 2023, on the highway at Mosalashi roundabout in Alimosho area of Lagos, where they were performing their lawful duty.
The two officers, Matimoju Anthony and Durojaiye Muritala, suffered their fate when they went to the place to perform their lawful duty. They were said to have accosted the suspect, Bolarinwa, believed to be a motorist for allegedly committing an undisclosed traffic offence.
According to the Police, Bolarinwa and others now at large conspired and inflicted serious assault on the LASTMA officers.
Having subdued them, one of them defeacated and used the faeces to rob their bodies including their faces. As if they were not satisfied, one of them brought a container of petroleum substance suspected to be PMS with a match box and attempted to set them ablaze before they were rescued.
The matter was reported to the Police at Gowon Estate Division and Bolarinwa was arrested. He detained at the Police Station while his accomplices escaped and now at large.
After thorough interrogation, the Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.
He pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned.
The prosecutor, Supol Bisi Ogunleye, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. M.A. Adegbaye, granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail onditions while the matter was adjourned for mention.
