Man, 32, Docked For Pronouncing Prince Idris Balogun a.k.a Oluomo Dead On Social Media

A 32-year old man, Balogun Azeez Olamilekan, caused public apprehension in Isheri Olofin of Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State following the false publication he made announcing the death of heir apparent to Obaship throne, Prince Idris Balogun, popularly known as Oluomo, on the social media.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the man behind the alleged dastardly act, Olamilekan, has been arrested over his alleged conduct.
The incident happened on 23rd December, 2023, few days to Christmas day when the suspect, Olamilekan, went on his Facebook page with another name- Prince Barllo Az Olami and published that Prince Balogun was dead whereas Oluomo was still alive and healthy.
The rumour of his death reportedly caused public fear in Isheri Olofin and its environs in the State as the comumunity was expecting that Prince Balogun will take the mantle of the throne left behind by their late father.
The matter was reported to the Police at Area M Command in Idimu. The Police operatives moved into action, eventually arrested him and detained the suspect for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
During interrogation, he admitted to have wilfully publish the death rumour with his picturioal representation having earlier written a threat message to Prince Oluomo to kill him.
The Police found him culpable and consequently charged him before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for threat to life and malicious publication against Oluomo in order to cause public fear in the State.
However, he pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned.
The prosecutor, Supol Benedict Aigbokhan, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. K.A. Ariyo, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment.
The matter was adjourned till 23rd January, 2023, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
