A 32-year-old man, Olagunju Rasak, has been charged before an Ikeja Magistrate Court in Lagos over allegations of sexual offences involving a 17-year-old minor in Agege.

According to Charge Sheet No. MIK/2026 dated September 2025, the Commissioner of Police filed a two-count charge over an incident allegedly occurring on Olafimihan Street, Dopemu, Agege, in the Ikeja Magisterial District.

Count One alleged unlawful defilement of a minor, contrary to and punishable under Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Count Two alleged indecent dealing with a minor, contrary to Section 135 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Lagos State Criminal Law defines a child as anyone under 18. Sections 135 and 137 cover prosecution of sexual offences involving minors.

The matter was handled by officers from Isokoko Division, Agege. The court did not take the defendant’s plea after the prosecutor asked that the matter be referred to the DPP for legal advice.

The Magistrate, Mrs. M.O. Tanimola, ordered the defendant’s remand in custody at the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the DPP’s advice on jurisdiction.

Child protection advocates have urged swift reporting and prosecution of cases involving minors to ensure accountability and deter similar acts.

The Lagos State Government, through the Ministry of Justice and the Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency, has provided channels for reporting sexual offences against children.

Under Nigerian law, every accused person is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a competent court after a fair trial.

The court will weigh evidence from both sides before any determination, and the matter will proceed on a later date.

Authorities have asked the public to avoid sharing identifying details of minors in such cases and to allow due process to take place.

This report is based on court records. The minor’s identity is withheld under the Child Rights Act. All allegations are as stated and remain allegations until proven in court.
