A 32-year old man, Waheed Ibrahim, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly inserting his finger into the private part of his neighbour’s 4-year old girl.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Adeba, Ibeju Lekki area of Lagos, where they reside.
According to the Police, the suspect lured the victim into his apartment, removed her pants and inserted his finger into her private part before he was eventually caught.
The matter was reported to the Police in the area. He was arrested and transferred to the Gender Section of the State Police Command for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
After rounds of interrogation at the Gender Section,  the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.
The charge read:
“That you, Waheed Ibrahim ‘m’ on the 3rd day of September 2024 at about 0900hours, at Adeba beju Lekki. Lagos, in the Lagos State Magisterial District, did defile the victim by inserting your finger into her vagina and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
However, the Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor,  Inspector John Iberedem, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kubenije, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
