Man, 33, Arraigned For Shooting 3 People Dead At The Beach

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the Police  alleged that the suspect, Sonu and one Charles Atideka, conspired and killed Muji Onilude, M, Richard Atideka m and Charity Atideka, F, by shooting them with a gun and also stabbing them with a knife.

The incident happened on 1st April, 2025, at Badagry Gberefu Sea Beach, Lagos.

The alleged murder was reported to the Police at Badagry Division, who moved into action and eventually arrested Sonu while the other suspect, Charles, was said to be on the run and died in the process.

The suspect, Sonu, was transferred to the SCID Yaba for further investigation. The operatives at the SCID found him culpable and charged before the Ebute Metta Magistrate Court for the alleged murder under the Criminal Laws of the State.

The charges read:

COUNT I :”That you, Bright Sonu and one Charles Atideka and now deceased, on the 1st day of April 2025, at about 0200hrs, at Badagry Gberefu Sea Beach. Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire amongst yourselves to commit felony to wit: murder and thereby, committed an offence punishable under Section 233 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.”

COUNT II:”That you, Bright Sonu and one Charles Atideka and now deceased, on the 1st day of April 2025, at about 0200hrs, at Badagry Gberefu Sea Beach, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did unlawfully kill (1) MUJI ONILUDE ‘M’ (2) RICHARD ATIDEKA ‘M’ (3) CHARITY ATIDEKA ‘F’ by shooting them with a gun and also stabbing them with a knife and thereby, committed an offence punishable under Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.”

The Court did not take his plea following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Supol Oladele, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice because of the seriousness of the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.M. Davies, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for legal advice.

The matter was adjourned for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
