A 33-year old man, Nura Mustapha, has been arrested and charged in Lagos for allegedly stealing CCTV Camera Accessories worth N10m belonging to Abia Bonaventure Izuchukwu at Ojo Alaba Market.

P.M.EXPRESS reports as stated by the Police that the suspect went where the items were kept, carted them away and escaped before the owner later realized that the items were missing.

The matter was reported to the  Commissioner of Police, who ordered the State CID Yaba to investigate the matter. And thus, the suspect was arrested and detained for interrogation over the alleged offence.

During interrogation, the suspect was unable to defend himself satisfactorily and the Police found him culpable. He was charged before the Ebute Metta Magistrate Court for the alleged offence under the Criminal Laws of the State.

The charge read:

“That you, NURA MUSTAPHA ‘M’, sometime in the month of September, 2024 at Ojo Area of Lagos, in the Lagos State Magisterial district, did steal CCTV accessories and other items valued. N10,000,000.00 (Ten Million Naira), property of Abia Bonaventure Izuchukwu ‘m’ and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.”

However, he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Inspector Adegbie Tope, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Chief Magistrate, Mrs. F.M. Kayode-Alamu, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
