Man, 33, Remanded In Custody For Stealing N15m From Greenlight Regency Hotel’s Boss

A 33-year old man, Jeremiah Okpulor, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for stealing the sum of N15m from the Director of Greenlight Regency Suites Limited under false pretence.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 3rd September, 2024, at the hotel located at Fadipe Street, Egbeda area of Lagos.
According to the Police, the suspect and others now at large conspired and stole the money from the complainant and thereby committed an offence punishable under Sections 411and 287 of the criminal laws of Lagos State 2015.
When the matter was reported to the Police at Idimu Division, the operatives moved into action, eventually arrested the suspect and detained him at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
After rounds of interrogation, the Police found him culpable and asked him to refund the money. He told the Police that he had spent the money as such had no money to refund him.
The Police however, did not state how he collected the money and what the money was meant for before he bolted away.
He was subsequently charged before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court over the alleged offence.
However, he pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned.
The prosecutor, Supol Benedict Aigbokhan, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, K.A. Ariyo, granted him bail in the sum of N2m with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned till 7th October, 2024, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
