A 33-year old man, Sodiq Dare Obasanu, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly defiling his 2-year old daughter.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Karonwi Street, Itire, Surulere, Lagos, where he resides.
The suspect, Obasanu, was arrested following a report to the Police at Ilupeju Division by his wife that he had constantly been defiling the daughter by inserting his finger into her private part and she had warned him severally to desist yet he continued doing so.
Thus, the Police arrested him and detained him for interrogation over his alleged unruly conduct. And after rounds of interrogation, the Police found him culpable and consequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.
The Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Inspector Lucky Ihiehie, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice because of the nature of the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Layinka, ordered his remand in custody at the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned till 16th October, 2023, for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be ready, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction
