Man, 34, Docked For Burgling Shop & Stealing N10m Clothes And Foot Wears

A 34-year old man,  Olabode Michael, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly stealing clothes and foot wears worth N10m at Oshodi Market belonging to Eze Chineye
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened between 12th and 13th March, 2025, at Arena Market, Oshodi area of Lagos State.
According to the Police, the suspect went to the shop at night, burgled and carted away the items on the first day but was caught on the second day and handed over to the Police at Akinpelu Division for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
During interrogation, the suspect reportedly admitted and the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.
The charges read:
COUNT 1: “That you, Olabode Michael ‘m’ between 12th and 13th of March, 2025 at Arena Market, Oshodi Lagos in the Lagos Magisterial district, did burgle a shop with intent to commit felony and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 307 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
COUNT II:”That you, Olabode Michael ‘m’ on the same date, time and place, in the aforementioned Magisterial district, did steal bags of clothes and foot wears valued at N10. 000, 000, 00 (Ten million Naira), Property of one Eze Chineye ‘f and thereby committed ar offence contrary to Section 280 and punishable under Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
However, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center in Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
