Man, 35, Arrested For Buying N6.5m Stolen Lexus Car

There was a twist over the purchase of a Lexus car by a 35-year old man, Shuaibu Abdullahi, at the rate of N6.5m in Lagos State as it turned out that the said car was a stolen one. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Abdullahi, has landed in trouble as he has been arrested by the Police for allegedly buying a stolen car and charged for stealing.
The incident happened on 17th February, 2024, and the transaction took place at Mafoluku Street, Oshodi, Lagos.
According to the Police, the suspect, Abdullahi, bought a black unregistered Lexus ES 350 worth the said amount belonging to Carsplenty Limited. But he was later arrested by the Police at Makinde Division for allegedly buying the stolen car despite the fact that he presented the receipt of payment.
However, the Police did not disclose the person who sold the vehicle in question but went ahead and arrested Abdullahi and detained him for interrogation over the purchase.
After interrogation, the Police retrieved the car from him and found him culpable for stealing. He was then charged before the Ogba Magistrate Court for conspiracy and stealing.
He pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned.
The prosecutor,  DSP Kehinde Ajayi, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kubenije, granted him bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment.
The matter was adjourned till 19th March, 2024, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
