A 35-year old man, Sulaiman Abdulrazaq, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly  luring and defiling his neighbour’s 7-year old daughter.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Powerline area of Jankara, Ojokoro, Lagos, where they reside.

According to the Police, the suspect allegedly lured the victim into the act after he sent her on an errand to buy something for him and she went to get the items.

When she went to his room to drop the said items, he asked her to sit on the bed. And before she knew it, he removed her clothes and pants and penetrated her.

Having satisfied himself,  he allowed her to go and told her not to tell anyone about what happened. She kept it to herself not knowing that her parents, who returned from work saw her when she was coming out from the suspect’s apartment.

The next day, the complainant sat her down and asked to find out what she was doing in the suspect’s room by that late hour. It was then she opened up and revealed what happened.

The matter was reported to the Police in the area and the suspect was arrested. He was later transferred to the Gender Section of the State Police Command for further investigation.

After rounds of nterrogation, the Police found him culpable and consequently charged him before the Ebute Metta Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.

However, the Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Supol Paul Ugorji, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.M. Ajayi, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.

The matter was adjourned for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
